Texas Tech 2023 Season Preview

Texas Tech is looking forward to building off a success 8-5 season in 2022 in the Big 12. Head Coach Joey McGuire is entering his second year at the helm of the Red Raiders, and many think they could be a dark horse for the conference title.

The Red Raiders are returning 14 starters from a season ago, including starting QB Tyler Shough. TTU put up an impressive 31.8 points per game in the 2022 season, which accounted for the 32nd best offense in the country, not to mention the second best offense overall in the Big 12. The Red Raiders will be looking to a healthy and rejuvenated offensive line to further propel the offense in 2023.

Defensively, Texas Tech has more work to do if they want to get to the Big 12 title game in 2023. Averaging 30.8 points against per game, there is definite room for improvement. Texas Tech will have six starters returning from the 2022 squad, which led the Big 12 in sacks. It'll be up to the coaching staff to develop some of the younger players on this side of the ball and generate more consistent play to take some pressure of the offense.

Texas Tech has the fourth best consensus odds to win the Big 12 in 2023 at +1048.
