Los Angeles' shocking seven-game losing skid has essentially ended any hopes of a potential Wild Card berth, immediately after the team decided to buy at the deadline. One of the Dodgers' deadline acquisitions, Lucas Giolito, has allowed 12 earned runs in his opening two starts with the Halos and will start again Tuesday.

San Francisco will open with Scott Alexander, who has pitched to a 3.21 ERA across 33 and 2/3 innings this season.

San Francisco Giants

San Francisco's strong 62-51 record has come with better-than-expected results versus right-handed pitching this season. The Giants have hit to a wRC+ of 99 versus righties, with a wOBA of .316.

With some relevant pieces out of the lineup, the Giants offense has hit a rough patch recently with a wRC+ of just 74 over the last 30 days. They will remain without Wilmer Flores, Mike Yastrzemski and Mitch Haniger in tonight's matchup versus Giolito.

The team's recent offensive struggles make Lamonte Wade Jr.'s recent turnaround in form a massive get for a struggling Giants offense, and he will be working in a number of favorable splits versus Giolito tonight.

Wade Jr. has batted .400 in the month of August, with a 1.205 OPS and a SLG-rate of .705. A 22-AB sample size does not mean much, but it might inspire more confidence in this instance talking about a proven batter who was clearly out of rhythm in July.

Wade Jr. has slugged a .452 versus right-handed pitching this season, with an OPS of .868. His .422 OBP on the road ranks fourth league-wide.

Los Angeles Angels

Lucas Giolito's Angels tenure has gotten off to a horrific start, as he gave up 12 ER in just over eight innings of work versus the Braves and Blue Jays, including five home runs.

Giolito's Stuff+ rating of 94 and Location+ of 102 should inspire some confidence that he can still be an average MLB starter, but outside of that, the case is relatively tough to make right now.

Giolito's xwOBA has spiked considerably over the last two months, and he has allowed a ton of hard contact. His xERA now sits at 4.78, and his xFIP has risen to 4.43.

Left-handed batters have hit Giolito particularly well this season. Across 47 and 2/3 innings, lefties have slugged .480.

He has allowed an .OBP of .385 versus the top of the order (1-2-3 batters) this season, which is the fifth-highest mark in the league.

Giants vs Angels Betting Pick

Lucas Giolito's Angels tenure likely will not continue to be as great of a disaster as it has been moving forward. His underlying profile is still reasonable, and seeing him stabilize with more mediocre outings in the near future seems likely.

This might not be the right spot to fade Giolito and the Angels in this matchup at -115, but I am definitely not taking on the Angels right now either.

This matchup sets up notably well for Lamonte Wade Jr. props, with weather conditions likely to help produce extra-base hits. He seems to be finding it after having his worst month out of either of the last two seasons in July, and with all the splits in his favor today, it seems a good time to buy in.

Betting Wade Jr. at +155 to record over 1.5 total bases holds value in a matchup versus Giolito and the Angels bullpen.
