Fanatics Sportsbook has gone live with its sportsbook in Massachusetts — one of four states where it's available. And the beta is available to Action Network readers or those in the Fanatics email database.

The apparel giant has been slowly building its betting product over the last 2.5 years and agreed to acquire PointsBet earlier this month, giving it access to New York and more than a dozen legal online betting states. But the deal won't close until Aug. 31, and then Fanatics will slowly start to acquire PointsBet's market access in each state, three at a time, until May 2024 at the latest.

Fanatics got licensed on its own in Massachusetts, paving the way for this beta launch. PointsBet chose not to get licensed and operate in Mass. It's also offering its beta in Maryland, Ohio and Tennessee.

Who's it for?

Action users in Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio and Tennessee. The terms of the Fanatics/PointsBet deal says it will be live in all of PointsBet's states by May 2024 at the latest, with the biggest betting states — Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey — likely the first priorities.

What's the promo offer?

You'll get $200 in bonus bets in Mass. with a $5 bet, plus you'll earn up to 5% back in FanCash on every bet you place — 5% for same game parlays, 3% for regular parlays, and 1% on straight bets.

Will there be a better offer later on?

It's hard to say, but getting $200 in bonus bets with a minimal deposit is about the best you can do in U.S. sports betting these days. bet365 has the highest-value "bet/get" offer, also at $200. Gone are the days of a $3,000 deposit match from Caesars.

Where will Fanatics Operate?

PointsBet has a license in 12 states that Fanatics does not, including a few big, expensive states to get into — New York and Pennsylvania among them. Fanatics got its own licenses in Ohio, Tennessee, Massachusetts and Maryland. It plans to launch its beta in MD sometime next week.
